Police Arrest Wanted Man

A 45 year-old man is scheduled to appear in Sydney Court this morning on a long list of charges, including assaulting a police officer and stealing a police vehicle.

Regional Police say Todd Francis Axworthy was arrested at Towerview Apartments in Sydney yesterday evening.

The arrest came after police say they tried to arrest Axworthy on Monday night for failing to appear in court.

They say he fled police in a vehicle on Grand Lake Road but was found near the Community College a short time later.

It was there police say Axworthy assaulted an officer and drove away in an unmarked police vehicle that was later found abandoned after hitting a parked vehicle on Bay Street in Whitney Pier.
