Person Of Interest Arrested After Weekend Shooting

Regional Police say a man they’re calling a person of interest is in custody as part of an investigation into a shooting in Sydney Mines over the weekend.

Police say 20-year-old Ryan Douglas Reynolds from North Sydney was arrested on other, unrelated charges.

He’s now facing charges of failing to comply with a release order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and careless use of a firearm.

The arrest comes after a shooting on Barrington Street in Sydney Mines on Saturday morning that prompted an emergency alert from police.

Police say no one was injured in the shooting.

They also say there’s no further risk to public safety as their investigation continues.

Reynolds is due in court today.
