People 18 And Older Can Now Book COVID-19 Booster Appointments

The Province has opened up vaccination appointments for COVID-19 booster doses to people 18 and older.

Booster doses are given at least 168 days after the first two doses and people in that age group can book their appointments, as of today.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health says more than 55,000 appointments for the Pfizer COVID vaccine are now available across the province.

But it says these appointments are only for people 12 to 29 years old.

The reason is people between the ages of 12 and 17 can only schedule a Pfizer vaccine for their first or second dose and people between 18 and 29 are strongly encouraged to schedule a Pfizer vaccine for their first, second or booster dose.

That’s because of an increased risk of inflammation in the heart muscle or lining of the heart in young adults from the Moderna vaccine.
