Parishioners Back in Flood-Damaged Church for Easter

Parishioners of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys church in Sydney will be back in their flood-damaged building in time for Easter.

The building has been closed for repairs since the Thanksgiving Day storm.

Not all the repair work is finished but the church will hold Easter services, starting today.

Parishioners have been going to other Sydney-area churches since the flood.

Mass will now resume at the church as usual on weekends but weekday services, such as funerals, will be held in other parishes, for the time being.

It’s expected it will be another two months before all the restoration work is complete.
