Pandemic Affecting Local Lab Work: NSHA

A high volume of COVID-19 testing is having an effect on lab work in the Health Authority’s Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton.

The Health Authority is asking people in the Eastern Zone to cancel appointments for routine blood work and other lab work for two weeks.

It’s also asking people not to book any new appointments for that kind of work.

People can cancel using the link in their appointment confirmation.

The Health Authority says those whose tests are needed for immediate diagnosis or management of chronic illness, including chemotherapy, should continue with their appointments.

It says it will provide an update when routine blood collection can be resumed.
