Overdose Prevention Site Opens In Sydney

The provincial Health Authority says a new overdose prevention site opened in Sydney this week.

Peer Six is run by the Ally Centre of Cape Breton and opened its doors at 75 Prince Street on Monday.

It’s one of two community-based groups that get funding to operate overdose prevention sites in the province.

The province says the sites support harm reduction by providing equipment and a safe space for people to use drugs.

They are also equipped to respond to overdoses and connect people to important health and social services.
