Cape Breton RCMP say an Ontario man and woman face 58 charges after they were arrested in North Sydney on Monday.

Alicia Maureen MacDonald, 33, from Scarborough and Rommel Jimenez, 41, from Toronto are facing charges ranging from possession of property obtained by crime, breach of conditions and possession of break-in instruments.

Jimenez also faces additional weapons and forgery charges.

RCMP say their Cape Breton Traffic Services division was told of two suspects travelling to Nova Scotia from Newfoundland on a Marine Atlantic ferry and were arrested on April 9 in North Sydney.

RCMP go on to say they took stolen items during the arrest including several identification and credit cards, a stolen purse and multiple wallets.

RCMP add they also took a rental truck.

MacDonald and Jimenez appeared in Sydney Provincial Court on Monday and are in custody.

They are due back in court on Tuesday.
