Online Fundraiser For Ingonish Women Killed In Crash

An online fundraiser for two Ingonish women killed in a weekend car crash has now raised nearly three times its original goal.

More than 15-thousand dollars has been pledged at the GoFundMe page for the families of 67 year-old Jennifer Westhaver and her daughter 36 year-old Katie Westhaver.

The women were killed Saturday after their car was involved in a three-vehicle crash on the Trans Canada in Dagger Woods, just east of Antigonish.

Two people in the second vehicle were taken to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish.

A 60-year-old Antigonish County woman later died at the hospital, while the other person remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There was heavy rain on Saturday, but RCMP haven’t yet said if that was a factor in the crash.
