One dead, one injured in Kelly’s Mountain crash

One person from Ontario has died and another has been injured in a single vehicle crash on Kelly’s Mountain last night.

Police say they were called at around twenty after nine last night to the stretch of Highway 105 on the Seal Island side of Kelly’s Mountain.

They say a vehicle towing a trailer rolled off the road and caught fire.

The driver died at the scene; the passenger was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The highway over the mountain was closed in both directions until about midnight, when the westbound lane was reopened.  The highway was down to one lane until half-past nine this morning as investigators examined the scene.
