NSTU Invited Before Public Accounts

A committee of the legislature will be hearing from the Nova Scotia Teachers union after Progressive Conservative members reversed an earlier decision not to call the union to discuss an auditor general’s report on violence in schools.

At this morning’s public accounts committee meeting, NDP MLA Lisa Lachance made a motion to invite the union, saying they’re an important part of any discussion on school violence.

Glace Bay-Dominion MLA John White, who’s also a teacher, was the first government committee member to respond, saying he’ll support the motion.

The motion went on to get unanimous support.
