NSP Withdrawing Proposed Fee For Solar Users

Nova Scotia Power says it’s no longer applying to charge a new fee to solar power customers.

The statement late this afternoon came after Premier Tim Houston announced earlier today the provincial government planned to bring in regulations to stop the fee.

The proposed fee to users who send excess power they produce back to the grid would’ve cost about a thousand dollars a year and Houston told reporters this afternoon the government is concerned that would discourage the use of solar power.

Meanwhile, Nova Scotia Power says it’s committed to working with the government and others to meet shared climate goals.
