Nova Scotia Power says today it’s been the victim of a sophisticated ransomware attack after referring to it as a cyber incident in the past.
The company says it’s learned the attacker has published customer’s data that was stolen from its systems.
It says letters have been mailed to the affected customers to notify them and arrangements have been made to provide them with free credit monitoring by the company TransUnion for two years.
NSP says it’s been working with cybersecurity experts to assess the nature and scope of the information that may have been stolen.
It says it’s also been working to further strengthen its systems and add more security protections.
