Bargaining teams for the Nova Scotia Community College and the union for its instructors and support staff are meeting with a conciliator today in an effort to prevent a strike.
Today is the first time the two sides have met, since declaring an impasse on February 29th.
Key outstanding issues are wages, workload and working conditions.
The Atlantic Academic Union says more than 75 per cent of it members voted down the latest offer from Community College last week that included a 7 or 8 per cent pay increase over three years.
If today’s talks fail, the union says its more than a thousand members will likely walk off the job by Monday.
