NS Unveils Reopening Plan

The province announced a five-phase reopening plan today with each phase lasting between 2 and 4 weeks.

The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Strang, says the province is not focusing on exact dates for reopening because they need the plan to be flexible.

Strang says the pace of the re-opening plan will depend on the number of COVID-19 cases, the number of hospitalizations and vaccine uptake.

Phase one of the plan starts on Wednesday of next week.

During the first phase, people are being asked not to travel into or out of the Regional Municipality or the Halifax area.

A number of changes are being introduced in the first phase, including an outdoor gathering limit of 10 for a consistent group without physical distancing.

Indoor gathering limits will not change yet.

Other changes include allowing restaurants and bars to open outdoor patios with masks required when people are not eating or drinking.
