NS Reports One COVID-19 Death, 8 New Cases

The province is reporting another COVID -19 death today, along with 8 new cases of the virus.

It’s also reporting cases of the delta variant and it’s renewing its COVID-19 State of Emergency.

Health officials say the person who died was a man in his 50s in the Central Zone.  

Two of the cases reported today are in the Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton and both are close contacts of earlier reported cases.

The other six new cases are all in the Central Zone.

The province says it’s found two cases of the delta variant among earlier cases and both were related to travel.

11 recoveries are being reported today and there’s now a total of 143 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia.

Those include 39 cases in the Cape Breton County Community Health Network and one in the Inverness, Victoria and Richmond Community Health Network.

There are now 10 people in the province in hospital with the virus, including 6 in intensive care.

The province’s State of Emergency is being extended to June 27th.
