Strang Seeing Evidence Of Community Spread as NS Reports More COVID Cases

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang says he’s now starting to see community spread of COVID-19 and he’s calling on people not to let their guard down in following public health rules.

The statement came after the province reported five new cases today.

Premier Stephen McNeil says some people are not taking the pandemic seriously and that could lead to the economy being shut down again.

The new cases reported today include the two cases first reported in schools in the Halifax area yesterday.

The other three cases are also in the Central Zone and are connected to earlier cases.

Health officials say those cases are being investigated.

The province now has 24 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 but no one is currently in hospital with the virus.
