NS Reporting 581 New COVID Cases, Hospital Outbreak In Halifax

The province is reporting 581 new cases of COVID-19 today as well as another hospital outbreak in Halifax.

The outbreak is at a ward at the Halifax Infirmary, where health officials say fewer than five patients are affected.

They say all patients are being closely monitored and other infection prevention and control measures are being put in place.

Of the new cases reported today, 420 are in the Central Zone, 62 are in the Eastern Zone, 42 are in the Northern Zone and 57 are in the Western Zone.

Public health is still seeing delays in follow-up because of the spike in cases.

It’s now prioritizing contact tracing in long-term care, healthcare facilities, correctional facilities, shelters and other group settings.
