For the second day in a row, the province has set another daily record for new COVID-19 cases.
394 new cases are being reported today.
There are 295 new cases in the Central Zone, with 54 in the Eastern Zone, 27 in the Northern Zone and 18 in the Western Zone.
Seven people in the province are now in hospital with the virus, including two people in intensive care.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang says the large number of active cases will force health officials to change the way they test for COVID-19 and details are coming next week on how that’s going to be done.
In the meantime, Strang says people should assume they have the Omicron variant if they have any symptoms and they should quarantine to prevent further spread.
