NS Minimum Wage To Go Up To 15/hr. In 2024

The province is accepting a recommendation to have its minimum wage go up to $15 an hour in 2024.

The recommendation is among those made by the province’s minimum wage review committee.

Last month, Premier Tim Houston said the government is accepting the committee’s recommendation to increase the minimum wage to $13.35 an hour starting in April but he needed more time to examine further proposed increases.

Labour Minister Jill Balser told reporters today the province has accepted the recommendations, including the timeline for getting to $15 an hour.

The province says an average of 8.1 per cent of workers in Nova Scotia worked for minimum wage during the period from April 2020 to March of last year.
