NS Fuel Costs To Go Up In July

The province says gas, diesel and home heating fuel costs will be going up on July 1st in order to comply with Ottawa’s carbon pricing measures.

The province says costs are expected to go up by 14 to 17 cents a litre.

The federal government is also putting a fuel producer carbon tax into effect on July 1st, requiring fuel producers and suppliers to reduce the carbon content in gas and diesel fuels.

Changes to regulations allow the Utility and Review Board to set a price adjuster that will determine how much of the second charge will have to be passed along to consumers.

The changes will also allow the board to price gasoline blended with renewable content.
