NS Announces Two COVID Deaths, 17 Cases, Three In Eastern Zone

The province is reporting two more COVID-19 deaths today as well as 17 new cases and a case of blood clotting linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Those who died were men in their 60’s in the Central Zone.

The blood clotting case involves a man in his 40’s who’s now recovering and it comes a day after the province resumed the use of AstraZeneca for second doses only.  

Three of the new cases reported today are in the Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton and all three are close contacts of earlier reported cases.

12 of the new cases are in the Central Zone and there’s one each in the Northern and Western Zones.  

The province is reporting 72 more recoveries today, bringing the total number of confirmed active cases down to 311.

70 of those cases are in the Cape Breton County Community Health Network and one is in the Inverness, Victoria and Richmond Community Health Network.

There are now 38 people in the province in hospital with the virus, including 15 in intensive care.
