Nova Scotia’s Inflation Rate 1.3%, Last Month

Statistics Canada says the national inflation rate in January was 1.9%.

That’s up from 1.8 per cent in December.

The federal agency says increased energy prices, especially for gasoline and natural gas, contributed the most to inflation last month.

It says those increases were partly offset by the HST/GST break that was introduced in December.

Meanwhile, Nova Scotia’s inflation rate in January was 1.3% with the 15% HST/GST holiday on some items in this province.
