Nova Scotia public school students will get an extra week of winter break this year due to COVID-19.
Premier Stephen McNeil says schools across the province will close on December 18, and reopen to students on January 11.
The premier says the extended break is “out of an abundance of caution,” and the extra week will allow 14 days to pass between Christmas Day and the return to classes.
Staff will return to school on January 4 for five days of professional learning.
