Nova Scotia Power is warning people to beware of any text messages claiming to be from the utility offering a refund.
The power utility says it’s a scam designed to trick people into divulging personal information like account numbers and names.
Spokesperson Tiffany Chase says the utility began seeing reports of the fraudulent texts yesterday.
Chase says people should not click on the link provided.
She says Nova Scotia Power would not ask for financial information through a text message. She says customers can always call the power utility directly if they want to know if a message is valid.
