Not Guilty Pleas Entered In Fatal Crash Case

A New Waterford man has pleaded not guilty to charges laid after a fatal crash on the Sydney-Glace Bay Highway in August.

28 year-old Justin Ronald Burke faces two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident involving death and two counts of breaching court orders.

Regional Police say a woman in her 30’s and a man in his 40’s were found dead at the scene after a pickup truck crashed into a pole between Cape Breton University and the Ultramar gas station.

Police were looking for a man with injuries who was seen running away from the crash site.

They say that person was found the next day.

Burke now has a pre-trial conference scheduled for March 2nd and his trial is scheduled to start on July 26th.

He continues his release on conditions.
