Not Guilty Plea Entered In Stabbing Case

A 44 year-old man has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and two other charges after a 17 year-old girl was stabbed in Sydney in May.

Brian Michael Costigan also faces counts of Assault with a Weapon and Assaulting a Peace Officer.

He was arrested after Regional Police say the girl was stabbed during a confrontation with a man and woman in the Sheriff Avenue/Townsend Street area on May 12th.

Police say the girl knows the man and woman.

Costigan continues his release on conditions ahead of a pre-trial conference on October 2nd.

A trial in the case has been scheduled for November 20th.
