North Sydney woman sues municipality over demolished home

A North Sydney woman is suing the Cape Breton Regional Municipality over the demolition of her former home.
Sylvia Dolomont filed a lawsuit in Nova Scotia Supreme Court in October, roughly a year after her Campbell Street home was demolished.
She is seeking unspecified costs related to the replacement of the home and its contents, living and remediation expenses, along with general and punitive damages.
Neighbours have been complaining about strange odours and rats at the property since 2008.
The municipality issued a demolition order on the basis that the home was both unsightly and structurally unsound.
