North Sydney Forum Coming Down This Month

The company awarded the contract to demolish the North Sydney Forum says the building will come down, later this month.

The Regional Municipality is paying Northern Contracting from Sydney Mines 57-thousand dollars to carry out the work.

The company will also get a parcel of land at the site.

Company president Sheldon Marinelli says they’re waiting for Nova Scotia Power to disconnect power at the site and adds some PCB’s found in light ballasts have to be removed from the building.

He goes on to say the demolition won’t begin until the second week of November and take two weeks to complete.

People who live in the area have been concerned the old Forum building poses a potential fire hazard.
