There’s a report of norovirus on a cruise ship that docked in Sydney today.
Some passengers on the Insignia say they’ve been informed of an illness on board.
The publication Cruise Hive says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed the illness is norovirus, with 74 passengers and one crew member reporting symptoms on Monday.
The cruise manager for the Port of Sydney, Nicole MacAuley, says illness happens on visiting vessels from time to time and extra protocols are in place.
Norovirus– also known as Norwalk virus– is the most common cause of gastroenteritis.
The Insignia is one of two ships that were scheduled to visit Sydney today.
The other ship, Majestic Princess, cancelled its visit because of high winds.
