No Sign of Missing 82-Year-Old Man

There’s still no sign of a missing 82-year-old man after a three-day search in the Mira Gut area.

His name and home community have not been released at the request of his family but police say he is from the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

He was first reported missing on Thursday and his 2003 Pontiac was found in the Bob’s Lane area of Mira Gut late Friday.

An extensive search by land, air and water has failed to turn up any clues to his whereabouts.

Searchers have focused their efforts on the shorelines of the Mira River and the nearby Mira Gut beach.

Nearby vacant buildings were also checked and volunteers went door-to-canvassing local homes.

Police say the man is in relatively good health and there’s nothing to explain his disappearance.
