No Severance for John Lynn

ACOA Minister Rob Moore has confirmed that John Lynn has been fired as CEO of Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation.

Moore adds that Lynn will not get severance pay because he was terminated with cause.

The news comes after a damning report from the federal integrity commissioner on Tuesday.

Mario Dion says that Lynn seriously breached a code of conduct in the hiring of four people with strong ties to either the federal Conservatives or the provincial Progressive Conservatives.

He adds the positions were filled without competition, giving them the appearance of partisan appointments.

Lynn has been on leave with pay for almost a year during the integrity investigation and a separate probe by the ethics commissioner.

His job was due to be eliminated when ECBC is taken over by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
