New Website To Lobby For Airport In Inverness

A new website has been set up to support the idea of an airport for the community of Inverness.

Former provincial deputy minister of tourism Michele McKenzie is among a number of people behind buildcapebreton.ca

Other supporters on the website include former Cape Breton Centre MLA Frank Corbett as well as former Premiers Rodney MacDonald and Darrell Dexter.

Also endorsing the airport on the site are Cape Breton University chancellor Annette Verschuren, former Destination Cape Breton CEO Mary Tulle and Glenora Distillery president and CEO Lauchie MacLean.

Critics of an Inverness airport say it will take business away from the nearby Port Hawkesbury Airport.
