New Web Portal To Coincide With Adoption Records Changes

The province has launched a new web portal to coincide with changes to access to adoption records coming this spring.

Under the changes adopted children can get access to adoption information once they turn 19.

Birth parents will also be able to get access to adoption records.

The new web portal has disclosure vetoes for people who don’t want to share adoption information that can identify them.

It also has contact notices that lets people share information that can identify them and set parameters around if or how they choose to be contacted.

The web portal can be reached at novascotia.ca/adoption-records-changes.
