New Waterford Woman Accused Of Misleading Police Watchdog Due In Court

A New Waterford woman accused of misleading investigators with the province’s police watchdog is due in court, today.

The Serious Incident Response Team says 49 year-old Kathryn McNeil filed complaints to both the SIRT and Cape Breton Regional Police last summer accusing a Regional Police officer of domestic violence and criminal harassment.

The SIRT adds it found no grounds to charge the officer.

However, McNeil has been charged with fabricating evidence, public mischief with intent to mislead a SIRT investigator, as well as attempted obstruction of justice and breaching a court order.
