New Waterford Native Steps Aside As Chief Of Defence Staff While Under Investigation

New Waterford native Art McDonald has stepped aside as Canada’s top military officer while claims of misconduct against him are investigated.

Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan made the announcement, last night.

The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service says it’s launched an investigation into Admiral McDonald.

No details about the investigation have been released.

Sajjan has appointed Army commander Lieutenant-General Wayne Eyre as Acting Chief of the Defence Staff.

McDonald promised to stamp out sexual misconduct and racism in the Canadian Forces when he took over as chief of defence staff, last month.
