More long-term care workers in Cape Breton have voted to go on strike.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees says workers at Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford have voted a hundred percent in favour of a strike.
They’re the latest of a large number of CUPE long-term care workers across the province who’ve voted to strike in recent weeks, including workers at homes in Sydney, Glace Bay and North Sydney.
Wages are one of the main issues in the dispute.
CUPE says contract talks with the province stalled in mid-November, forcing it to file for conciliation.
Last week, Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Barbara Adams told reporters she’s confident the dispute will be worked out but she added the province will make sure essential services are maintained if there is a strike.
