New Waterford Armed Robbery Accused Due in Court

A New Waterford man charged after an armed robbery in New Waterford is due in court today.

Regional Police say 33 year-old David Clifford MacLean was arrested on Friday.

He faces counts of robbery, possession of a weapon, assault, and assault with a weapon.

The charges stem from an armed robbery at Midway Taxi early Wednesday morning.

Police say a masked man demanded money from an employee before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police add the worker suffered minor injuries during a brief struggle, but refused medical attention.

MacLean was remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Facility over the weekend to await today’s court appearance.
