Premier Tim Houston has announced a new centre at the Northside General Hospital that will offer urgent healthcare treatment for people in North Sydney and surrounding communities in the Regional Municipality.
The new Northside Urgent Treatment Centre will open on November 1st.
The centre is not an emergency department but will offer care for people with unexpected, non-life-threatening health problems that require same or next day treatment.
It will be open to people with or without a family doctor or nurse practitioner.
The Health Authority will be hosting a public information session about the new centre at the Emera Centre Northside on Thursday at 6:00 in the evening.
The province says registration information for the event will be available soon.
