The province is announcing a number of new public health restrictions today after reporting 5 new cases of COVID-19.
All of the new cases are in the Central Zone.
New provincewide requirements include a limit on moving people in long-term care outside their homes and a requirement for all restaurants and bars to get customers’ contact information.
Some other new restrictions will apply in parts of the Central Zone starting Monday.
Two Halifax area schools are being closed for two weeks because of the rising case numbers in the area and people in parts of the Central Zone will now have a limit of five people per group in public places without social distancing.
Of the five newest cases, one was reported last night and is a close contact of another case at Auburn Drive High School in Cole Harbour.
Another case is connected to an earlier reported case and the three others are still being investigated.
There are now 28 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
