The Nova Scotia chapter of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives says the living wage for Cape Breton has gone up in the last year.
The Centre says the living wage for the Island is now $24.50 an hour.
That’s up from $24 an hour last year.
Cape Breton has the lowest living wage in the province while Halifax has the highest living wage of $29.40 an hour.
The Centre for Policy Alternatives says a living wage reflects what workers need to cover the basic costs of living and participate fully in their communities.
