New Housing Complex Being Named After The Late Eleanor Young

The Ally Centre of Cape Breton has announced they will honour the late Eleanor Young from Eskasoni in the naming of the Rapid Housing Initiative building that’s currently under construction in north-end Sydney.

Young was 21-years-old when her body was found at the bottom of an embankment at the end of Harrison Avenue in Sydney in September.

The Ally Centre supported Young in Sydney and the group says the naming of the Rapid Housing Initiative building was selected by its clients.

The 25-unit building will be known as “Eleanor’s Court.”

The Ally Centre and New Dawn Enterprises got $5 million in funding for the housing project last year through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s rapid housing initiative stream.

New Dawn says they hope to open by early next year.
