New Daycare Spaces Announced

Ottawa and the province announced 1,500 new licensed daycare spaces this morning as part of the agreement with the federal government to create a universal childcare system.

The governments say families using the new spaces will get the same 25 per cent fee reduction as people using existing licensed childcare.

They will also get the 50 per cent reduction that will take effect by the end of the year.

The province says licensed childcare agency the Cape Breton Family Place will add a total of 12 new home childcare providers in the Regional Municipality, Victoria, Inverness and Richmond counties.

It says the Day Care Society in Baddeck will expand to Ingonish and create 24 new spaces for infants, toddlers and three-year-olds.
