New COVID-19 Visitor Restrictions At Hospitals, Starting Today

The Health Authority is changing visitor restrictions across the province in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Starting at 8:00 this morning, most hospital patients can have only one consistent fully vaccinated designated support person or family caregiver.

People under 19 admitted to hospital, patients in intensive care and critically ill patients in emergency departments are allowed to have two designated support people but only one can visit at a time.

People coming to the hospital for clinics, appointments, tests or procedures are asked to come alone unless they need support to get care.

Nova Scotia Health says the restrictions could vary by site because of COVID-19 activity within a facility and staffing requirements.
