New Chair for Donkin Community Liaison Committee

The Community Liaison Committee for the Donkin Mine has a new interim chair.

Port of Sydney Manager Paul Carrigan has taken on the role.

Carrigan lives in nearby Port Caledonia and adds he took on the role because of his interest in the community and the potential economic benefits the mine will bring.

The Liaison Committee monitors the effort to open the mine and the affect it will have on the community, including the shipping of coal and safety.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for mine owners Kameron Collieries says 45 people are now working at the mine site getting it ready for operation.

Coal is expected to begin being mined from Donkin later this year.
