National Inflation Rate Hits 2.6% In February

Statistics Canada says the national inflation rate in February was 2.6%.

That’s up from 1.9% in January.

The federal agency says the end of the GST/HST break partway through the month contributed notable upward pressure to prices for eligible products.

It says slower price growth for gasoline moderated inflation.

Meanwhile, Nova Scotia’s inflation rate last month was 2.1%, up from 1.3% in January.
