National Inflation Rate Dips To 1.7% In July

Statistics Canada says the national inflation rate in July was 1.7%.

That’s down from 1.9% in June.

The federal agency says prices for gasoline led the slowdown last month, falling 16.1% year over year.

That follows a 13.4% decline in June.

The agency says higher prices for groceries and a smaller year-over-year decline in natural gas prices compared with June moderated the July slowdown.

Nova Scotia’s inflation rate in July was 1.6%, the same as it was in June.
