Murder Accused Back In Court Next Month

A New Waterford man is due back in court next month as he faces second degree murder and numerous other charges.

28 year-old Aaron Shaun Young is charged in the death of Sydney businessman Jim Matthews, whose body was found in his Prince Street apartment on August 29th.

He’s also charged with robbery in the case, as well as with two robberies in New Waterford on the day before Matthews’ death.

Young remains on remand and is now scheduled back in court on January 8th.

His foray into radio began with a research position at The Coast, which led to the production of a radio documentary on the music of the Mi’kmaq people. A graduate of Breton Education Centre, Dave went on to get a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Sociology from Cape Breton University, as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Sociology from Dalhousie University. He has worked as a teaching assistant at Dalhousie, and in various short-term customer service and research positions.
