Municipality Announces Funding For Housing Projects

The Regional Municipality has announced two housing projects it’s approved for federal funding.

The Urban Neighbourhood Development Association on behalf of Cape Breton University is being given $5.4 million to build 145 new residential units at the former Tartan Downs racetrack in Sydney.

The municipality says seventy of the residential units will be affordable units.

Joneljim Concrete Construction has been given $1.2 million for the development of 144 new residential units off of Cossitt Heights Drive in Sydney.

The money comes through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s Housing Accelerator Fund.
