Municipalities Getting More COVID Money

The province says municipalities are getting some more money today to help with costs brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The municipalities are getting a total of $67.5 million as part of the Safe Restart Agreement between the province and Ottawa.

The province says the money will help municipalities meet operating costs as they deal with lower revenue from transit and fees as well as higher costs for COVID-19 infection prevention measures.

The money comes after the Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities put out a report in June saying the pandemic will leave local governments with a total shortfall of $66.5 million.
