Municipal Staff Recommend Against Flyer By-law

Municipal staff have recommended against putting in a by-law to deal with the litter created by flyers.

The Municipality’s Planning Director Michael Ruus told council today such a by-law would require hiring more staff.

He says that would be a challenge given the financial difficulties the municipality is already facing.

Some councilors expressed concern a bad message might be sent out if by-laws under consideration can’t be brought in because of financial challenges.

Today’s presentation came after council asked for an issue paper following complaints from constituents about the litter created by the flyers.
